In the first part of our new blog series, we look at why agility and flexibility are more imperative than ever for the food and beverage industry

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic this year, we’ve been exploring both the short- and long-term impacts of this ongoing crisis on the food and beverage industry. In our Keeping the Chain Going series, we examined the effect of the lockdown on food supply chains around the world. And in our Post-Pandemic World series, we looked at some of the big trends and demands the industry can expect in the new normal – from an acceleration in the digital transformation to more socially responsible companies.

Looking ahead

Throughout both these series, we’ve seen that this global pandemic has highlighted just how vulnerable some businesses are today. In the immediate aftermath of the outbreak, many producers and manufacturers were simply unable to operate as normal. And as we look ahead to an uncertain future, everyone will be carefully considering whether they’re ready for any similar disruptions. Whether they can handle more unexpected periods of higher output. And whether they can become more resilient and agile in their operations.

But as we’ve also seen in our Seizing Opportunities series, the need to be more agile and flexible isn’t just a result of COVID-19. With increasing megatrends, such as rising global consumption, health and convenience, food trust and transparency, sustainability and more, food and beverage manufacturers are under pressure to not only meet today’s consumer needs but react quickly to changing demands. So the million dollar question is just how can you deal with unforeseen crises as well as continue meeting ever-changing trends?

Without compromise

In our six-part Flexible for the Future series, we’ll explore how you can be more agile than ever when producing food and beverage products. We’ll examine some of the critical industry challenges and major consumer demands that have been brought sharply into focus as a result of COVID-19. And we’ll see that with SIG, you can respond quickly and flexibly to these demands. All with agile filling systems and solutions that ensure you never have to compromise on either high speed or high flexibility.

Don’t miss part two when we’ll look at how consumers are becoming more conscious of health and hygiene due to COVID-19. Through a series of thought-provoking questions, we’ll explore how you can react both quickly and flexibly to offer products that are healthier and more nutritionally valuable.
