You mentioned ambient yogurt being popular with both the older and younger consumers - is there a common reason for that?

Well, there are quite a few reasons, but the top one would be convenience. Convenience of not having to wait for the yogurt to reach ambient temperature. And convenience of carrying it in the bag wherever they go. There is a cultural reason for this. Warm or ambient-temperature beverages are more the norm in China and many parts of Asia. People even prefer their milk warmed up. So, ambient yogurt is a good fit for dietary preferences in Asia.

How do you see the ambient drinking yogurt market grow in China and globally?

Ambient drinking yogurt is a popular drink and made a sensation when it was first introduced in China. But as health consciousness among consumers increased, the lack of live bacteria in ambient drinking yogurt became a concern.

 

Now with our collaboration with AnaBio leading the launch of shelf-stable probiotics, I think this category will rise to a new level. As I mentioned, ambient drinking yogurt is considered a premium product in China and consumers want only the best from it.

 

According to you, how can SIG help elevate ambient yogurt products?

At the cost of sounding repetitive, our collaboration with AnaBio and shelf-stable probiotics is going to be a game changer. We, at SIG, are so excited to see this path-breaking product on the shelves by the end of this year.
