The SIG Foundation supports innovative projects that protect the environment and positively impact the community. Not wasting anything is a common goal of all initiatives. This also applies to the community recycling programme Recycle for Good, which aims to bring recyclable materials back into the cycle.
Recycle for the environment
Pollution of water and soil by waste is a major environmental challenge. Our planet's resources are finite and its capacity to absorb waste is limited. As a responsible society, we need to move towards a circular economy, where we stop producing waste and manage products and materials in a closed loop. This is why Recycle for Good aligns with SIG’s Resource+ commitment to foster sustainable practices.
Circular economy to protect the environment
SIG's commitment goes beyond immediate measures. The globally active company is working with industry colleagues and associations to improve the recycling of beverage cartons.
The SIG Foundation supports this vision through Recycle for Good, an initiative designed to boost recycling rates and promote mindful use of natural resources.
Learning from Brazil
Since 2018, SIG has partnered with Brazil’s social enterprise so+ma vantagens to inspire community recycling and environmental awareness. Leveraging this experience, the SIG Foundation launched Recycle for Good in Indonesia and plans to expand it to other countries.
Collecting is the Way to Go
Recycle for Good promotes recycling of used packaging, including beverage cartons, glass, plastic, and more. Since launching the first collection booth in Jakarta in March 2023, the initiative has expanded to numerous collection points citywide, along with household collection services.
Acting with Purpose
In Jakarta, Recycle for Good adapts to urban needs by leveraging social media to highlight the expansion of the program to 151 collection points. Consumers can also drop off recyclables at Cibubur Junction in East Jakarta, earning reward points based on the value and weight of the materials. These points are redeemable for food and other essentials.
Recycling is rewarded
Recycle for Good aims to transform behavior by showing the tangible benefits of recycling. This model provides both environmental and socio-economic advantages, helping individuals save on essentials or acquire new skills for better job opportunities.
